Lead Installer - Custom Millwork and Fixtures

Portland, OR
Full Time
Senior Manager/Supervisor

We’re looking for a Lead Installer who is an absolute ace. Someone we can trust to figure it out.

The hours aren’t always pretty. Days, nights, weekends, long days, weird schedules, whatever it takes to get the job done. You’re good with all of that.

You know how to install. You know how to troubleshoot. You know how to look at a problem, figure out what’s actually wrong, and make a plan. If there's a change in plans, you know who to call and what to ask for. But before any of that, you’ve already walked the job, start to finish in your head and made note of the stumbling blocks, the what-ifs, and the things that nobody put in a drawing.

You’re also good with people. You can walk into a client's space, take charge without being a jerk, and make things happen without making it a big production. You make the client feel like they’re in good hands, you keep stakeholders in the loop and you understand the importance of using the right language for the right audience.

This is a lead role, and it comes with the authority to match. You’re coordinating with GCs, site supers and other trades to weave the work under tight deadlines. You understand the crush to get the CO at the end of a construction job and how crucial a clean carpet can be for a retail opening. You know when to push, and you’re the one to call a stop when something isn’t right, because we’d rather eat an hour than a go-back.

This work means nights, weekends and travel. None of this is a surprise to you, and you understand the varied nature of our industry.

What makes Axiom different from the other install jobs you’ve had is that we build what you install. Heck, sometimes you build what you install. The work you do comes out of our seventy-five thousand square foot shop full of people that you'll be collaborating with and working beside. When you’re off the road, you’re in the shop working with the build team, and when something gets crated badly or fights you on site, you’ve got the opportunity to get the needed changes into production for next time.

You’ve probably done most of this:

  • Led multi-phase retail, event, or commercial installs from the first logistics meeting through sign-off.
  • Held your own with a GC on site without making an enemy.
  • Trained up installers who are now great at what they do because of the time they spent shoulder to shoulder with you.
  • Structural rigging, anchoring, and fastening across a multitude of materials has taught you what can bend, and what shouldn't.

This isn’t a job for someone who needs a perfect set of instructions. Things will go sideways. You’re the person we want when they do, and we’re paying accordingly.
